Flower Boulevard is an open-air flower exhibition that opened in mid-April in Riyadh.

Even if you’re not a fan of botany, you might be pleasantly surprised by a refreshing stroll amid natural beauty — especially as the summer heat inevitably begins to settle over the Kingdom.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that all the flowers are live, planted in planters and pots of various shapes. In other words, they didn’t have to sacrifice their lives for the sake of two evenings of beauty — and even after the event ends, they will continue to bring joy to the world.

For young visitors, the highlight of the evening might be a visit to the bird pavilion (for an additional fee), where you can take photos and feed some of the feathered friends, as well as pet them.

All in all, I highly recommend it!

If you want a bite to eat, in addition to small stalls, there’s even a whole row of food vendors catering to every taste, as well as a restaurant (though there’s a massive line for it).

The only downside is the chaotic organization of the entrance. It’ll take some time to get to the drop-off point and figure out parking. And in the evening — to wait for a taxi, which will also have a hard time getting through. So be patient.

The exhibition opens in the evening, every day at 4:00 or 5:00 PM (sources list different times, so it’s best to arrive by 5:00!). That way, you’ll have time to admire the flowers both in daylight and under the lights after dark.

It’s located right next to Boulevard World (you can read about it here) and will last till June 16.

Entrance tickets can be booked on Webook (click), the price is 29 SAR/person.

You have to buy tickets for the bird pavilion separately — but I recommend purchasing them on-site, since I paid 69 SAR for them on Webook, while at the pavilion itself, they cost only 35 riyals! (I suspect that Webook’s price includes the basic admission ticket, but they simply forgot to mention it.)

You can also buy bird feed for 15 riyals at the entrance, but the birds let us pet them even without it 🙂

There’s also a kids’ area (for an additional fee), but we didn’t go in there.

Admission is free everywhere for children under 3 and people over 65 (bring documents proving your age).
